Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service (CSREES)
Formed in 1914, the Cooperative Extension Service became a part of CSREES in 1994 which augments its original mission: to offer educational outreach to people in a variety of areas, among them agricultural and natural resources. There are cooperative extension offices in every county in most states and they are all affiliated with the Land Grant Colleges and Universities of their respective states. They offer many resources to homeowners looking for information on lawn care, through their extension agents, numerous written publications, and Master Gardener phone information lines.
You can contact your local county extension offices by looking for its listing under local government in the telephone directory. They also maintain a site on the World Wide Web at: http://www.reeusda.gov/1700/statepartners/usa.htm.
