Elizabeth Cernota Clark of Denton, Texas, is a lifelong gardener and longtime garden writer and editor. She is a three-time GWA award winner for pieces published in The Dallas Times Herald, Horticulture magazine and The Christian Science Monitor. She began her journalism career at the Chicago Daily News and has been a reporter, editor and freelance writer for 30 years. She served as editor of Neil Sperry’s GARDENS magazine in Texas for seven years before returning to school for a master of journalism degree at the University of North Texas. She also wrote “Fresh From the Garden,” a food column, for three years for Texas Gardener magazine, and she continues to write on a freelance basis for publications including The Dallas Morning News. She is currently an assistant visiting professor in the mass communications program at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. She has served the Garden Writers Association as a magazine judge and committee chair for the Quill & Trowel Awards program.
