Jeff is one of only a handful of nationally prominent yard care and gardening experts. Further, unlike many of his fellow garden writers, Jeff is unique in that he is also a communicator (on air and in person) and a teacher. For 23 years, he has been researching; publishing and speaking widely on issues dealing with yard beautification and plant care for American homeowners. His expertise includes yard, garden, and landscape care, pest and disease control, and gardening/yard care equipment. His hobby and special interest has been vegetable gardening.

Books - Jeff and his writing partner Liz Ball produced 6 books for Rodale Press that reflect his interest in organic gardening techniques, garden design, and safe natural garden problem-solving.

Jeff shifted his focus from the relatively smaller market of avid gardeners to the burgeoning market comprised of “weekend warriors” and non-gardening homeowners about 10 years ago and then published three additional titles:

•	Yardening -The Non-gardener's Guide to Creating A Beautiful Landscape by Macmillan. (out of print) 12K+
•	Ortho’s Composting which is considered one of the best books on that subject ever published. 100K+
•	His latest book, published by Fulcrum, is called Smart Yard; 60 Minute Lawn Care and deals with all aspects of ecological lawn management in the home landscape.

Electronic Production
Television - As a garden communicator Jeff has found video and TV to be an effective way to reach the public. For eight years, Jeff appeared monthly on NBC's The Today Show as their "gardening expert". More recently, Jeff appeared on QVC Home Shopping Channel selling various lawn and garden products for manufacturers.

Video - He has produced and hosted 12 one-hour instructional videotapes called Yardening with Jeff Ball. On sale nationally, they cover many topics such as lawn care, herbs, flower and vegetable garden design, growing seedlings, houseplants and roses.

Internet - Jeff's latest project is an Internet effort designed to help American homeowners have low maintenance landscapes while reducing the need for fertilizers, water, and pesticides. Yardener's Advisor is a monthly e-mail service backed up by a web site www.yardener.com with over 3000 pages of practical how-to information for subscribers to the e-mail service.
