While studying to be an Electrician I still find myself drawn to lawn care & maintenance. Not only does it provide a little extra cash, but, it is relaxing as well. Thank you, for Yardcare.com; For I find that it is neccesary to take PRIDE in the Training & Service that I do.

Another way to measure your water usage is by the gallon - it's shocking when you realize how many gallons of water you are using.

You could try out something like this new product: http://www.absolutelynew.com/content/products/water-saver .

The National Home and Gardening Club recommended this digital water meter for saving both water and money! This meter is a GREAT way to conserve at home. LOVE IT!

The first question to answer is whether or not lime is necessary. Lime is applied to neutralize acidic soils. If your soil pH (measure of acidity) is above 6, lime is NOT necessary. The best way to find out your soil’s pH is to send a sample to your state university soils lab through your State Cooperative Extension Service. The soil analysis results will tell you whether or not you need to apply lime, and how much to apply. if you do.

The following link will help you locate and contact your Cooperative Extension Service Agent: http://www.nifa.usda.gov/Extension/index.html

These three links explain soil pH and the need for lime: http://www.uri.edu/ce/factsheets/sheets/lime.html http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/4000/4026.html http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/4000/4026.html

Steps 1 and 2 are by far the most important steps when doing lawn care. Putting a second effort into these steps will make the newly planted specimen not as impressive as they could be.
